Geodynamic and geophysical features of region of Greece
The Central and southern parts of region include following basic geological and geophysical elements:
A so-called Mediterranean ridge to the south from the Ellinsky trench which grows out of sea-bottom deformations;
Deep-water Ellinsky a trench (the maximum depth of 5 km, dlpna 1500 km) in an internal part of this ridge;
Zone Benoffa in last stage of development which begins from the Ellinsky trench and plunges to the north towards Aegean sea under a corner 35 °; this zone has been allocated on distribution of focuses of intermediate earthquakes;
The sedimentary arch presented Ellinidami which can be tracked to Crete, Karpatosu, to Rhodes and on continental area of Turkey;
Between sedimentary and volcanic arches there passes the Kritsky trench with the maximum depth of 2 km;
The volcanic arch parallel to an aforementioned sedimentary arch, located on distance of an order of 220 km from a trench with pozdneplnotsenovoj - chetvertichnoj activity in an internal part; this element has structure of a double arch: an external volcanic arch (Susaki, Egina, Methane, Melos, Santorin, Nisiros) and an internal arch (mikrofivy, Ahilejon, Lihades, Andiparos, Western Plaits). Appreciable magnetic anomalies which meet in Aegean sea, are connected mainly with a so-called North Egejsky trench and a southern volcanic arch. In northern part of Aegean sea the geodynamic situation is not clear. Moreover, on all area it was showed considerable izvestkovo-gtselochnoj vulkanizm, which definitely ancient (it has practically come to the end in late miotsene), than vulkanizm a southern volcanic arch;
